Why
a New CONSTITUTION?
In the
Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson
declared:
"...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their
just Powers from the Consent of the Governed...whenever any
Form of Government becomes destructive...(of the rights of
the people)...it is their Right, it is their Duty, to throw
off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future
Security.…"
For
"WE, the PEOPLE, of the United States of America,"
the TIME HAS COME:
- To
throw off a long train of abuses inflicted by
capitalistic dictatorship
- To
establish the Voice of the PEOPLE as the dominant
power in shaping national policy
- To
institute citizen control of the White House, Congress,
and Executive and Judicial Branches of
Government
- To
reorient national policies from WAR to
PEACE
- To
establish law, order, security, and justice for all
citizens
- To
enact a fair, valid tax system
- To
adopt a monetary policy to accelerate--not retard
or obstruct--economic progress
- To
require high standards of performance by all officials of
Government for better management of the
nation
- To
establish stronger safeguards against rampant corruption
and betrayal by politicians elected to public
office
- To
institute prudence, common sense, and responsibility in
stewardship of our national heritage
- To
improve standards of living and quality of life for all
citizens
- To
give powers to citizens for determining national policy
and national destiny
- To
transform Capitalistic Dictatorship into real
DEMOCRACY
Background…
Since
the dawn of history, WE, the COMMON PEOPLE, of Planet Earth
have been dominated under tyranny of incumbents of
power: kings, emperors, presidents, dictators, and
other despots.
Historically,
common people have been subjugated and exploited
as:
- Property
- Servants
and slaves
- Cannon
fodder for wars
- Victims
of genocide
With the
advent of the American Revolution in 1776, a new nation--and
new hope--were born: creating an optimistic outlook
for greater freedom for common people!
Betrayal...of
AMERICAN REVOLUTION
The
American Revolution was fought to free the New World from
despotism of the British Monarchy only to be betrayed into
subjugation under Capitalistic
Dictatorship.
In the
Constitutional Convention of 1787, Delegatespredominantly
did not represent the common people--but, rather, the
politically, economically, and militarily powerful of the
times.
Distrustful
of the judgment of common citizens, Delegates considered
Democracy a threat to dominance of society by the
politically and economically elite.
Reflecting
attitudes of Delegates, the Constitution contained
anti-Democracy provisions such as:
- VOTING
was initially limited by States to WHITE MEN WHO
OWNED PROPERTY
- CANDIDATES
for PRESIDENT were--and still are--nominated by
political parties dominated by the politically and
economically influential and powerful; then,
elected by an artificially-created, anti-Democracy
Electoral College comprised of delegates selected by
State Legislatures. CITIZEN-VOTERS DID NOT--and DO
NOT NOW--directly ELECT
PRESIDENTS!
- VICE
PRESIDENTS are selected dictatorially by
Presidential nominees and confirmed by BIG
MONEY-CONTROLLED Political Parties--not selected directly
by voters
- MEMBERS
of U. S. SENATE were appointed by State Legislatures--not
elected by the people (an anti-Democracy principle
changed by Amendment XVII in 1913)
- WOMEN
were NOT RECOGNIZED AS CITIZENS--meriting neither the
RIGHT TO VOTE nor to have a VOICE in GOVERNMENT (an
anti-Democracy principle changed by Amendment XIX in
1920)
- NEGROES
were counted as only 3/5 of a person in census--and then
only for political and economic purposes of States,
not for equality and civil rights.
Moreover, human slavery was extended by the
Constitution for more than half a century. Slavery
was not halted until (a) Abraham Lincoln's Emancipation
Proclamation; and (b) adoption of Amendment XIII of the
Constitution abolishing slavery--more than 75 years
later.
- NATIVE
AMERICAN INDIANS were NOT COUNTED AT ALL--either as
citizens or human beings--and were forcefully corralled
into concentration camps called Reservations for
hundreds of years
In
addition to such anti-Democracy tenets, the more than
200-year old Constitution contained inadequacies and
inequities that now severely handicap the
nation.
Under the
original Constitution:
- Presidents
and Members of Congress were not--AND ARE NOT
NOW--required to possess KNOWLEDGE QUALIFICATIONS for
office, resulting in a long succession of
non-knowledgeable, non-competent Presidents and Members
of Congress. The only qualifications for high
office were--and still are--age, residence,
and citizenship.
- BIG
MONEY has been allowed (1) to dictate national elections;
(2) to nominate and elect Presidents, Vice Presidents,
and Members of Congress; (3) to determine or influence
appointments to powerful cabinet posts for administration
of national laws and programs; and (4) to strongly
influence appointment of justices and judges to the
judicial system.
- Political
Parties--owned and controlled by BIG MONEY--have been
allowed to engage in anti-Democracy actions in Congress
such as Party-line votes, filibuster, pork
barreling, bribery, and other anti-citizen,
anti-Democracy acts
- Perpetuation
of an anti-citizen, anti-economic, unconstitutional
MONETARY POLICY seriously handicaps national
progress
- Unfair,
corrupt TAX LAWS have caused a skyrocketing NATIONAL
DEBT
- Anti-Democracy
and anti-nation radical, right-wing politicians and
Political Parties have been allowed to shutdown
the Federal Government--literally engaging in subversion,
rebellion, and insurrection against the United
States. National
Referendum for Impeachment of
Congress
AMEND
CONSTITUTION? Futile!
During
more than 200 years, the Constitution--although amended 27
times--has failed to keep pace with changing-advancing
times.
Consequently,
it has become not only outdated, antiquated, and
obsolete--but detrimental and dangerous--for the
nation.
To
attempt to amend the obsolete Constitution to cope with
challenges of the 21st century would be
futile! It would be comparable:
- To
attempting to patch up a horse-and-buggy 27 times
to compete with high-powered cars racing in the
Indy 500 at speeds up to 200 miles per hour;
OR
- To
launch a horse-and-buggy--modified 27 times--into
space to compete with Columbia, Atlantis,
or other spacecraft traveling at speeds of 25,000
miles per hour orbiting the Earth or exploring other
planets of the universe.
By any
valid standard of evidence, reason, or common sense, it is
ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE to restructure--literally "patch up"
with amendments--a more than 200-year old, obsolete
Constitution to meet challenges of the 21st
century.
FUTURE...Without
a New CONSTITUTION
For the
21st century, failure to adopt a new Constitution
will result in perpetuation:
- Of a
nation handicapped with unqualified, UNKNOWLEDGEABLE
Presidents and Members of Congress--possessing 0-5% of
knowledge necessary to perform effectively in
office
- Of
ineffective management of Government crippled by
appointment of more than 5,000 political cronies, big
dollar contributors to political parties, defeated
politicians, and others unqualified to manage national
programs
- Of
Congress handicapped legislatively by irrational, invalid
malpractices such as filibusters, pork barreling,
bribery, fiscal incompetence, anti-Democratic voting
procedures, perpetuation of unconstitutional laws, and
anti-American shutdowns of Federal
Government
- Of an
ineffective Judicial system--lacking management,
coordination, evaluation, and accountability--absolutely
incapable of providing "equal justice for all
citizens"
- Of a
Federal tax system that unfairly overburdens individual
taxpayers, downgrades standards of living, retards
economic progress, and skyrockets the national
debt
- Of a
monetary policy that is anti-citizen, unconstitutional,
economically regressive and ultimately
disastrous
- Of a
give away of public lands, forests, and
other resources to mining, lumbering, cattle
raising, tourism, and other industries--without adequate
remuneration to U.S. Treasury
- Of
national policies for redistribution of wealth in which
the rich become richer, downgrading quality of life for
middle class; and forcing poor further into poverty--then
to early death
- Of
subjugation of rights, interests, and well being of
citizens under Capitalistic Dictatorship of Government
of, by, and for CORPORATIONS, BANKING, and
WEALTHY
